Trichopolum is a vaginal tablet with antimicrobial and antiprotozoal action used in gynecology. This dosage form of the drug is effective in the treatment of diseases of the genitourinary system caused by protozoan microorganisms, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Trichopolum has a number of contraindications. It should not be taken in any form for the following diseases:
- leukopenia;
- organic lesions of the central nervous system;
- hypersensitivity to metronidazole;

Trichopolum has the ability to penetrate the placental barrier. It is prohibited to use it to treat inflammation of the ovaries in the first trimester of pregnancy. The combined use of the drug and anticoagulants enhances the effect of the latter. The risk of bleeding increases. The accumulation and toxic effects of lithium preparations increase. Phenobarbital accelerates the breakdown and excretion of Trichopolum. As a result, the required concentration of the substance is not achieved, and the therapeutic effect is reduced. Cimetidine can accumulate with Metronidazole, increasing the risk of complications of candidiasis. Sulfonamides stimulate the antimicrobial properties of Trichopolum for thrush.

Overdose
