In the distant twentieth century, there lived a great man - the Soviet surgeon Alexander Vishnevsky. He was working on a special drug that could have an antibacterial and astringent effect, accelerating regeneration processes. The components used were birch tar, xeroform and campfire oil. And in 1927 he succeeded. Since then, the ointment began to be called “Vishnevsky Ointment.”
The remedy was widely used in World War II to treat wounds, burns, skin ulcers and boils. Now the scope of application of the ointment has increased significantly and gynecology has not remained on the sidelines.
The use of Vishnevsky ointment in gynecology
Balsamic liniment according to Vishnevsky is used to relieve inflammation in the ovaries, uterus, and vagina. Its components of natural origin successfully cope with pathogenic bacteria and pathogenic fungi. It is these microorganisms that most often provoke gynecological diseases. After applying the ointment to the vaginal mucosa or intravaginal insertion of a tampon, restoration processes are launched:
- the genitals are cleansed of infectious pathogens and toxic products of their vital activity;
- wounds, erosions, cracks, ulcerations on the mucous membranes heal;
- benign neoplasms - cysts and polyps - gradually decrease in size;
- the patency of the fallopian tubes is normalized.
Vaginal use of Vishnevsky ointment allows you to accelerate epithelization and by restoring the biocenosis of the vagina. In place of dead yeast-like fungi and E. coli, beneficial lacto- and bifidobacteria begin to grow. They produce lactic acid, protecting the reproductive organs from pathogenic microorganisms.
How to make tampons with Vishnevsky ointment
In gynecology, it is practiced to use tampons from Vishnevsky ointment, but it is also possible to simply apply it to the mucous membranes. The latter method is used to treat pathologies in women such as uncomplicated thrush or vaginitis. Tampons for vaginal administration are indicated for patients with fibroids and other benign neoplasms. To make them, you should purchase sterile dressings - bandages, cotton wool or napkins. You can also use hygienic tampons, but they do not absorb balsamic liniment so well. Making a medicinal tampon at home is quite simple:
- Using scissors treated with any alcohol solution, cut off pieces of bandage about 20 cm long;
- The cotton wool is compacted as much as possible and balls with a diameter of 3.0-3.5 cm are rolled;
- the ball is placed on the edge of the bandage, the edges are folded inward and a tampon is formed;
- for subsequent removal, the tampon is tied with a strong thread or a thin piece of bandage.
Now all that remains is to soak the tampon with balsamic liniment and insert it into the vagina. When making it, you need to try to ensure that all the threads of the dressing materials remain inside. If they get on inflamed areas of the mucous membranes, they can cause an intensification of the pathological process.
Compositions for douching for adhesions in the uterus
Douching is used to eliminate scars in the fallopian tubes, uterus, and ovaries. For this procedure, you will need a special Esmarch mug, with which it is convenient to introduce the solution into the vagina. Most often, for douching, doctors allow the preparation of decoctions from medicinal herbs:
- Chamomile, flaxseed and elderberry. They are used in equal quantities - 1 spoon per 1 liter of boiling water. Leave for an hour and douche before bedtime.
- Nettle, chamomile and bird knotweed. These products also take 1 spoon each, except for the knotweed - you need 5 tbsp. l. Next, take a spoonful of the mixture and brew it in 1 liter of boiling water.
- Rhizomes of iris. Use 1 tbsp. l. dried raw materials and 1 liter of boiling water.
- Pure chamomile. You can also use the simplest recipe - prepare an infusion of 2 tbsp. l. dried chamomile flowers, soaked in a glass of boiling water for 30 minutes.
- Bergenia decoction. This substance helps with many problems associated with the pelvic organs in women. Take 50 g of raw material and brew it in 300 ml of water. You need to infuse this remedy for at least 7 hours. Next, the decoction must be mixed with 1 liter of water. Experienced people who have been treated with similar means advise douching 2 times a day for 30 days, followed by a break.
- Borovaya uterus. A popular and very effective plant, used internally and externally, and also as tampons (herbal decoction). This is one of the most effective herbs for the treatment of female diseases and adhesions. You need to brew the herb in 1 liter of water in the amount of 2 tbsp. l.
Treatment with douching should be carried out in courses, from 10 to 20 procedures. It is better to discuss treatment tactics with your doctor.
Women should not forget that alcohol solutions are prohibited for douching and making tampons.
Description of the drug
Vishnevsky ointment is a preparation for topical use with a pronounced antiseptic effect. It contains three ingredients - birch tar, high bismuth xeroform and castor oil. All components of the drug have a therapeutic effect. In combination, they enhance and prolong the clinical effectiveness of each other. The product does not contain substances to form an ointment base - petroleum jelly, paraffin or lanolin. Therefore, liniment has a liquid, syrupy consistency. It is also characterized by the following physical properties:
- brown, grayish-brown in color when cut;
- intense specific smell of tar and xeroform.
The drug is used both as monotherapy and in combination with other medications. In gynecology, tampons with Dimexide and Vishnevsky ointment are often used. Combining two antiseptics helps to quickly stop inflammation and significantly speed up recovery.
pharmachologic effect
Ointment-balm according to Vishnevsky is used in gynecology due to its multifaceted therapeutic effects.
In the process of using the drug, nagging pain in the lower abdomen disappears, the menstrual cycle normalizes. Thanks to its antimicrobial activity, the discharge of thick greenish-yellow mucus from the vagina stops. The powerful anti-inflammatory effect of the ointment is based on components that have the following therapeutic effects:
- Birch tar irritates the sensitive nerve endings of epithelial tissues. This leads to a reduction in pain, burning and stinging when urinating. In tissues affected by inflammation, blood circulation is restored and microcirculation is normalized. Due to the supply of nutrients and biologically active substances, regeneration is accelerated;
- xeroform coagulates proteins, eliminating purulent processes, drying wounds and erosions. It sanitizes inflammatory foci and removes toxic compounds from them. Xeroform denatures proteins, accelerating the restoration of damaged tissues;
- Castor oil eliminates irritations on the skin and mucous membranes. It nourishes the cells, saturates them with moisture, and ensures the penetration of vitamins and microelements. The oil forms a dense membrane on the surface of the epithelium. It protects them from the penetration of pathogenic microorganisms.
The use of high doses of liniment has a bactericidal effect. In the cells of bacteria and fungi, the biosynthesis of proteins and nucleic acids is disrupted, accelerating their destruction.
Release form and composition
Balsamic liniment is produced by Russian pharmaceutical factories. The primary packaging of the drug is dark glass bottles or aluminum tubes. Each of them contains 25, 30 or 40 g of Vishnevsky ointment. Secondary packaging is a cardboard box with an annotation inserted inside. The medicinal product contains the following ingredients:
- tar is a product of dry distillation of birch bark;
- castor oil, obtained from castor beans;
- xeroform - bismuth tribromophenolate.
The drug should be stored in a dark place at a temperature not exceeding 15°C. Shelf life - 5 years, after opening the package - 2-3 months. The cost of liniment is about 50 rubles.
For vaginal administration, suppositories with Vishnevsky ointment are used.
They are not produced by the pharmaceutical industry. Suppositories are made to order in the prescription and production departments of pharmacies using the rolling or pouring method. They usually contain balsamic liniment, lanolin, petroleum jelly and cocoa butter. You can prepare candles at home using this recipe:
- 100 g of cocoa butter is melted in a water bath and 30 g of ointment is introduced in parts;
- Cool slightly and pour into thick foil molds.
To harden, the suppositories are placed in the refrigerator. Cocoa butter melts at human body temperature, so the suppository should be inserted into the vagina quickly.
