Vaginal discharge before menstruation. How to react?

The menstrual cycle becomes unstable due to regular stress, hypothermia, and physical overload. Bloody discharge before menstruation can also be caused by physiological factors or characteristics of the female body. Sometimes they signal an existing disease (hormonal, inflammatory), the presence of tumors and other problems. Only a specialist can determine the true cause of spotting red discharge a few days before menstruation.

How to distinguish between normal discharge and bleeding

The content of the article

Normal vaginal discharge is clear or white and varies in consistency depending on the phase of the menstrual cycle. Such discharge is called leucorrhoea. The consistency of leucorrhoea resembles mucus and is produced by the glands of the cervix, which help cleanse the genital tract from infections and protect them from the penetration of pathogenic bacteria.

Bloody discharge and vaginal bleeding can also be normal if they appear during menstruation and their volume does not exceed 60 ml. per day. If vaginal discharge contains blood or turns into uterine bleeding in the period between menstruation, you should immediately consult a doctor.

How to distinguish periods from implantation bleeding?

Implantation bleeding usually occurs a week before your expected period. Bloody, light discharge after ovulation most likely indicates a possible conception. But such discharge immediately before the expected menstruation indicates the opposite.

What it is?

Implantation bleeding is minor bleeding that occurs as a fertilized egg implants into the wall of the uterus. This phenomenon does not happen to all women. And in most cases it may go completely unnoticed.

In fact, it is just a light discharge of pink or brown color . Their duration ranges from several hours to several days (in rare cases). It is for this reason that it usually goes unnoticed or is mistaken for the beginning of menstruation.

However, it is worth paying attention to severe bleeding, as it can be caused by other reasons. These may include early miscarriage or dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

How does bleeding occur during implantation?

It is considered one of the early signs of pregnancy. It occurs even before a woman detects a delay in menstruation. It is worth noting that implantation bleeding does not affect the course of pregnancy as a whole. About 3% of women encounter this phenomenon and mistake it for menstruation, and soon find out that they are already pregnant.

Fertilization occurs in an already mature egg, that is, during or after ovulation. Ovulation occurs in the middle of the cycle.

For example, if the cycle is 30 days, then ovulation will occur on days 13-16, and about 10 more days will be required for the mature egg to migrate through the tubes to the uterus.

Accordingly, implantation of the egg into the wall of the uterus occurs approximately on days 23-28 of the cycle.

It turns out that it occurs just shortly before the onset of the expected menstruation.

Implantation bleeding itself is a completely normal, natural phenomenon for the female body, because global hormonal changes begin with the attachment of the egg to the wall of the uterus. The main thing is to distinguish it from other possible vaginal bleeding in time.

Signs

  • You should pay attention to the nature of the discharge . Usually, implantation discharge is light and its color is lighter or darker than normal menstruation. Bloody discharge is associated with partial destruction of the vascular wall of the uterus during implantation.
  • You need to listen to the sensations in the lower abdomen . Usually, implantation is associated with mild “pulling” pain in the lower abdomen. This occurs due to spasm of the uterine muscles during implantation of the egg.
  • If you keep track of your basal body temperature , check your chart. When pregnancy occurs, the temperature rises to 37.1 - 37.3. However, it is worth noting that on the 7th day after ovulation, a decrease in temperature may occur, which indicates pregnancy.
  • If you keep a menstruation calendar , pay attention to the date of your last period. With a stable cycle of 28-30 days, ovulation occurs on days 14-16. If the egg is successfully fertilized, implantation occurs within 10 days after ovulation. Therefore, the estimated date of implantation can be easily calculated.
  • Pay attention to whether you had unprotected sex a couple of days before and after ovulation. These days are very favorable for conception.

How to distinguish implantation from menstrual?

Nature of the discharge

Typically, menstruation begins with light discharge, which then becomes heavier. However, in very rare cases it occurs shortly before or during menstruation. Then you need to pay attention to the abundance and color of menstruation.

If you have spotting, you can take a pregnancy test to be sure. It can be done as early as 8-10 days after ovulation. It is likely that the result will be positive.

What else can it be confused with?

Light, bloody discharge in the middle of the menstrual cycle may also indicate the following diseases:

  • Sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis).
  • Bacterial vaginosis and endometriosis can be accompanied by spotting.
  • If the discharge is accompanied by cutting pain in the lower abdomen, vomiting, nausea and dizziness, then ectopic pregnancy , as well as miscarriage, should be suspected.
  • Also, discharge may indicate hormonal dysfunction , inflammation of the uterus or appendages , or damage during sexual intercourse .

In all of the above cases, you should immediately seek medical help.

Feedback from women on this issue

Maria:

Girls, tell me, who knows about implantation bleeding? My period should start in 10 days, but today I found a drop of blood in clear mucus on my panties, and my stomach ached all day like before my period. This month I felt ovulation well. And my husband and I tried to make everything work out. Just don’t talk about tests and blood tests, this has never happened before. Sexual intercourse took place on days 11, 14, 15 of the cycle. Today is day 20.

Elena:

Similar discharge sometimes occurs during ovulation.

Irina:

I had the same thing last month, and now I have a huge delay and a bunch of negative tests...

Ella:

This happened to me 10 days after intercourse. This happens when the fertilized egg attaches to the wall of the uterus.

Veronica:

Happens quite often. The main thing is not to rush time - you won’t know before anyway! Ovulation bleeding can manifest itself in exactly the same way as implantation bleeding.

Marina:

You need to measure your basal temperature in the morning, preferably at the same time, without getting out of bed, if the temperature is above 36.8-37.0 and your period does not come. And all this will continue for at least a week, which means that the bleeding was implantation and you can be congratulated on your pregnancy.

Olga:

I, too, exactly 6 days later, had drops of pinkish-brown discharge, I hope I’m pregnant. I also feel some warmth in my lower abdomen, has this happened to anyone?

Svetlana:

Recently, two brownish spots also appeared, and then some pinkish blood. The breasts are swollen, sometimes you feel a nagging pain in the lower abdomen, your period is still 3-4 days away...

Mila:

It happened to me that on the 6th day after intercourse, pinkish discharge appeared in the evening. I was very scared of this, 3 months ago I had a miscarriage. The next day it was a little brownish, and then it was clean.

My nipples started to hurt. I took a test 14 days later and the result was negative. Now I’m suffering, not knowing if I’m pregnant, or maybe it’s something else. And I can’t determine the delay precisely, since sexual intercourse took place a couple of days before the expected menstruation.

Faith:

On the fifth day of the delay, I took a test, which turned out to be positive... I was very happy and immediately ran to the doctor to confirm whether pregnancy had definitely occurred or not... There the doctor pushed me into a chair and during the examination she found blood inside... The blood confused her, I was sent to the hospital.

As a result, there were 3 options for the appearance of blood: either it was the start of menstruation, or a miscarriage that had begun, or implantation of the fertilized egg. They did an ultrasound and tests. My pregnancy was confirmed. There was no more blood.

It turned out that it really was implantation, but if I had not gone to the doctor for an examination and she had not found blood, then I would not have known about the manifestation of implantation bleeding at all. As I understand it, if this is implantation, then there should be very little blood.

Arina:

I have had. Only it looked more like small streaks of blood, maybe like spotting. This happened on the 7th day after ovulation. I then measured my basal temperature. So, during implantation, an implantation drop in basal temperature may still occur. This means that it drops by 0.2-0.4 degrees, and then rises again. That's what happened to me.

Margarita:

And for me, implantation happened seven days after ovulation and, accordingly, sexual intercourse. In the morning I discovered blood, but not brown, but light red discharge, it quickly went away and now my stomach and back are constantly tugging. My chest hurt, but it's almost gone. So I hope it was implantation bleeding.

Anastasia:

A week before my period, I had bleeding in the evening, as if my period had started. I was just terribly scared! This has never happened before! I didn't know what to think! But by morning there was nothing. I made an appointment with a gynecologist, but it was scheduled only a week later.

My husband consulted with someone and they told him that perhaps I was pregnant, and we ruined everything with sexual intercourse and there was a miscarriage... I was seriously upset. My husband then calmed me down as best he could! He promised that we would try again.

And a week later, menstruation still didn’t come, but the pregnancy test turned out to be positive! So I came to the gynecologist to register.

Causes of physiological bleeding

Physiological vaginal discharge mixed with blood that appears between two menstruation may be associated with the following reasons:

  • Implantation bleeding – appears during conception and can continue until your period is missed. The bloody discharge is spotty and scanty, and in some cases may be accompanied by pain during sex.
  • The first months of taking hormonal contraception - the first days of taking oral contraceptives may be accompanied by light, spotting discharge, which stops on its own after a few days.
  • Skipping a birth control pill also causes a hormonal imbalance, which results in short-term bleeding.
  • The intrauterine device is a contraceptive device that fits very tightly to the mucous membrane of the uterine cavity and irritates it, causing it to contract with redoubled force. It is this active work of the uterus that provokes bleeding.
  • Aggressive sex - vaginal microtraumas that occur during aggressive sexual contact can also lead to bleeding, which does not pose a serious threat to a woman’s health.

Dark brown or reddish spotting may be observed for several days after your period stops. This manifestation is also considered normal and does not require the attention of a gynecologist.

Bleeding before menstruation - reasons for discharge a week earlier

Bloody discharge a week before menstruation can be triggered by various factors, both the most harmless and quite serious, requiring immediate action.

Based on certain characteristics of the discharge, one can often guess the reason that provoked it.

Therefore, a woman must pay attention to the shade, consistency and intensity of the phenomenon that has arisen.

There are many reasons that can provoke bleeding before menstruation.

When discharge is normal

Bloody discharge a few days before menstruation is often considered normal. For example, a vaginal secretion with similar characteristics should not cause concern:

  • if the discharge is insignificant and the woman needs only one panty liner per day;
  • the genitals do not swell, there is no itching or burning;
  • no pain;
  • the discharge is characterized by a color from light red to brown;
  • the secret lasts no more than 4 days;
  • no odor or a subtle, sourish odor is allowed.

The logical end of such discharge is the onset of menstruation.

Does blood occur during ovulation and pregnancy?

Bloody discharge before menstruation without any other symptoms is allowed if this is a fertile period or conception has occurred. A mature egg needs to be released from the follicular sac. At this moment, damage to the smallest capillaries is possible, resulting in a slight release of blood. This usually happens on the 14th day from the start of the previous menstruation.

Bloody discharge may be a sign of pregnancy

The possibility of pregnancy should not be excluded. If conception is destined to happen, it will happen only on the day of ovulation, that is, at the moment when the egg is viable. But fertilization is considered to have occurred from the moment the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall. There is a certain period for this - 6-12 days from the fertile period.

The type of vaginal discharge deserves special attention from women. Their duration is primarily taken into account. 3-4 days is considered the norm, beyond this is a reason to visit an antenatal clinic. Perhaps your lower abdomen will feel a little sore.

Important! Any discharge from a pregnant woman requires special attention. The reasons for this fact may lie in a lack of progesterone or improper attachment of the embryo to the wall of the uterus.

Birth control pills

Birth control pills, or oral contraceptives, are a form of contraception that prevents unwanted pregnancy by preventing ovulation and creating conditions in the uterus and cervix that are unfavorable for conception. Oral contraceptives contain synthetic hormones that also help regulate the menstrual cycle.

When a woman starts taking birth control pills, she may experience slight bleeding before her period. This symptom may occur during the first few months of using the tablets. In medical practice, it is often called breakthrough bleeding.

Breakthrough bleeding usually indicates that the body is adjusting to birth control pills, although some women mistakenly believe that such bleeding is due to the pills not being effective in preventing pregnancy.

Bloody discharge may also occur if a woman misses a pill or takes it later than usual.

Could the symptom be a result of taking hormonal medications?

A few drops of blood a week before your period may be a consequence of the use of medicinal compounds. A number of hormonal medications can cause vaginal discharge.

Blood may appear after taking certain hormonal OCs

First, you need to be especially careful with the following:

  • dosage forms providing emergency contraception;
  • birth control pills;
  • ointments and creams for the vagina.

In addition, patients who have a vaginal ring or intrauterine device should be on their guard.

Important! When it comes to contraception using hormonal medications, you must adhere to the attached instructions and recommended periods of use.

What signs indicate the development of pathology?

A week before menstruation, discharge is not always the result of pathological processes. However, if you discover some associated factors, you need to seek help from a specialist, since such changes may indicate the presence of serious problems. Worrying factors include:

  • discharge lasting more than 4 days;
  • the presence of a large number of clots;
  • copious discharge;
  • the secretion is thick or, conversely, unnaturally watery;

If the temperature rises, this is an alarming signal and treatment is necessary.

  • body temperature is increased;
  • having sex is accompanied by pain;
  • feeling of discomfort in the back, lower back and abdomen;
  • the patient's general condition worsened.

If discharge occurs 4 days before your period and one or a number of the signs mentioned above are identified along with it, you should not postpone your visit to the clinic. After passing the tests and performing an ultrasound of the problem area, the specialist will prescribe the necessary therapy.

Pathological causes of vaginal bleeding

Spotting, scanty and heavy bleeding can be caused by pathological changes in the body:

  • menstrual irregularities;
  • cervical cancer or erosion;
  • development of endometriosis;
  • genital polyps, etc.

If the pathological process is not stopped, pus appears in the discharge with a sharp characteristic odor that is impossible not to notice.

One of the most dangerous diseases, accompanied by bloody vaginal discharge, is inflammation of the inner layers of the uterus (endometrium). The reason for the development of pathology is the penetration of pathogenic microorganisms into the uterine cavity.

Infection most often occurs during abortions, gynecological probing and other medical procedures. Bloody and purulent discharge in this case is accompanied by high fever, nagging pain in the lower abdomen, chills, weakness, and increased sweating.

Severe psycho-emotional shock can lead to hormonal imbalance in a woman’s body, which affects the exacerbation of chronic diseases and can also cause bleeding between periods.

The presence of bloody discharge before menstruation: signs of pathology

The reproductive system of the fairer sex is constantly exposed to both external and internal factors that affect its functioning. This effect is manifested by various signs, including vaginal discharge.

Regular rejection of the endometrium does not raise any questions for women, while spotting before menstruation is alarming because it can be a symptom of a gynecological disease.

The duration of secretion with blood, its volume, time of occurrence, as well as accompanying symptoms will help to recognize the norm or a serious violation.

Why does blood secretion occur?

It is wrong to immediately associate scarlet or brown discharge before menstruation with pathology. In most cases, an unusual secretion may be released for the following reasons:

  1. Wrong lifestyle.
  2. Constant overwork.
  3. Work in hazardous production.
  4. Increased physical activity.
  5. Poor diet(s).
  6. Sudden weight gain or loss.
  7. Use of traditional medicine.
  8. Severe stress.
  9. Climate change.
  10. Lack of a certain hormone.
  11. Douching.
  12. Consequence of abortion.
  13. Inaccurate sexual contact.
  14. Damage to the vagina by foreign objects.

Many of these reasons initially cause a minor disruption in the body. But without elimination, even one harmless factor often provokes serious gynecological diseases. Therefore, you simply cannot do without consulting a female doctor.

Ovulation and pregnancy

Bloody discharge a week before menstruation without symptoms of pathology may indicate the onset of a fertile period or indicate conception. When the egg is fully mature, it leaves the follicular sac.

During this process, the smallest capillaries can be damaged, causing a scanty bloody secretion. This occurs on the 14th day after the start of the previous menstruation. If we take the probability of pregnancy, then conception can occur only on the day of ovulation, at the moment of vital activity of the egg.

But fertilization is final after the fertilized egg attaches to the walls of the uterus. In time, this is 6–12 days after the fertile period.

When these factors are suspected, a woman needs to evaluate her condition and vaginal secretions. It should not last more than three or four days, minor pain in the lower abdomen is allowed. Blood discharge can smoothly transition into menstruation with late or repeated ovulation.

During pregnancy, dark brown or pink spotting secretion requires special attention. The phenomenon may be caused by a lack of progesterone or improper attachment of the embryo in the uterine cavity.

Signs of pathology

It is impossible to establish an accurate diagnosis without the help of a doctor. But it is possible to understand that a violation is occurring in the body. It is worth contacting a medical facility if the following characteristics and additional symptoms are observed in your bleeding a week before your period:

  1. A long duration of discharge was observed.
  2. There are many clots in the liquid.
  3. The discharge is red but not menstrual and has a significant volume (as with regular discharge).
  4. The blood is too watery or thick in consistency.
  5. Pain is felt during sex.
  6. Body temperature rises.
  7. There is an unpleasant smell of discharge.
  8. There are painful sensations in the abdomen, lower back, and perineum.
  9. Poor general health is stated.

Even if only a couple of signs appear, it is not advisable to postpone a visit to the gynecologist. It is important to submit materials for analysis, do an ultrasound and undergo other diagnostic methods prescribed by the doctor. Timely treatment increases the chance of the fastest possible recovery and complete restoration of the reproductive system.

Atypical color of the secreted fluid

Shortly before menstruation, the following shades of discharge may not be normal:

  • scarlet;
  • hot pink;
  • very dark red;
  • rich red;
  • brown.

The exception is the scanty secretion of one of the described colors, which appeared once, or after it menstruation began immediately.

Chance of bleeding

A bright red, profuse secretion before menstruation may indicate bleeding. Metrorrhagia has the following symptoms:

  1. Blood volume is more than 100 ml.
  2. Low blood pressure.
  3. Dizziness.
  4. Loss of consciousness.
  5. Nausea and vomiting.
  6. Pale skin.

Large bleeding may not go away on its own. If these signs occur, it is important to call an ambulance, and before it arrives, the woman should take a horizontal position.

Hormonal disbalance

A lack or excess of a particular hormone affects the functioning of the entire body. If you experience bleeding 5 days before your period, you should think about problems with hormonal levels.

With increased estrogen, the endometrium may be shed prematurely, causing minor bleeding of unknown origin. Thyroid hormones also have an effect. Problems in the endocrine system negatively affect the functioning of the genital organs. Bloody secretion may occur on the third, fourth or fifth day from the onset.

Progesterone deficiency

If there are problems with the luteal phase of the female cycle, the reproductive system may secrete a brownish secretion before menstruation. This symptom is not the only evidence of improper formation of the corpus luteum. The woman's inability to become pregnant or bear a child soon becomes evident.

The main sign is a short period of time from ovulation to menstruation (less than 12 days). In appearance, the secretion in this pathology is very similar to premenstrual discharge. Therefore, a woman can ignore the lack of progesterone for a long time until she decides to have a child.

Treatment of the disease is carried out only after a comprehensive diagnosis and study of the patient’s lifestyle. World medical practice has long proven that women involved in sports most often bleed before menstruation.

Intense physical activity provokes luteal phase deficiency. Against this background, the reproductive system can secrete a normal amount of progesterone. Even the duration of the second half of the cycle is most often normal.

But the phenomenon in this case is caused either by improper absorption of the hormone, or by a disrupted relationship between progesterone and LH. As a result, almost every cycle is accompanied by bloody discharge two to five days before the expected menstruation.

This article should be used for informational purposes only. Any secretion with blood before your period should be discussed with your doctor. The specialist will examine the symptoms and refer you for diagnosis. Only a doctor, based on the test results and examination, can make an accurate diagnosis.

Bloody discharge during pregnancy

Almost every woman encounters this kind of phenomenon during pregnancy. Bleeding during pregnancy is not always considered a cause for panic.

At this time, the sensitivity of the genital organs increases, they begin to be more actively supplied with blood, which can lead to minor bleeding from the vagina. A woman can notice scarlet discharge after a vaginal ultrasound, examination in a gynecological chair, or sexual intercourse.

You should worry when the discharge is so abundant that you have to change the pad several times a day. Blood clots are a serious reason to urgently consult a doctor. The main causes of abnormal bleeding during pregnancy:

  • ectopic pregnancy;
  • spontaneous miscarriage;
  • inflammation of the cervix;
  • placental abruption;
  • frozen pregnancy.

Discharge (even spotting) is especially dangerous in the second and third trimester. They most often indicate serious pathologies that threaten the lives of mother and child. Blood comes from placental abruption or its presentation in the internal os of the cervical canal. In the second case, the walls of the uterus become thinner and the vessels feeding the organ rupture, which poses a serious danger to the woman’s body.

Causes of spotting 7 days before menstruation

Bloody discharge a week before menstruation can be triggered by various factors, both the most harmless and quite serious, requiring immediate action.

Based on certain characteristics of the discharge, one can often guess the reason that provoked it.

Therefore, a woman must pay attention to the shade, consistency and intensity of the phenomenon that has arisen.

There are many reasons that can provoke bleeding before menstruation.

What diseases can there be

If blood appears before your period, you will not be able to make a diagnosis on your own. This should be done by a specialist. Usually, a few days before menstruation, bleeding may occur with the development of the following pathologies:

  • inflammation in the ovaries or fallopian tube;
  • if the reproductive system is affected by infection;
  • with cervical erosion;
  • venereal diseases;
  • if you had to deal with acute or chronic endometritis;
  • for polyps or cysts;
  • with atrophic vaginitis;
  • can be caused by benign or cancerous formations;
  • with endometriosis (growth of the inner layer of the uterus).

It is very important to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases

Each woman's reproductive system is individual. If there are only symptoms indicating the development of a particular disease, without tests and the necessary examination, it is impossible to say reliably what pathology you have encountered.

In addition, if you bleed a week before your period, you should look for the cause in disorders of the thyroid gland, adrenal glands, central nervous system, and bladder.

How is the diagnosis carried out?

It will be possible to establish the reason why spotting appeared 5 days before menstruation through certain diagnostic measures. The doctor prescribes the following diagnostic methods:

  • examining a woman on a chair using special mirrors;
  • bacterial smear culture for flora and infections;
  • Ultrasound examination of reproductive organs.

You will learn about the reasons for discharge a week before your period if you watch this video:

Diagnostic measures are required to determine effective treatment.

The appearance of alarming signs in pregnant women cannot be ignored. Secretions released from the vagina can also warn of the development of an ectopic pregnancy, a dangerous pathology that requires surgical intervention. If the necessary assistance is not provided in time, both mother and fetus will die.

Bleeding after childbirth

Bloody discharge (lochia) from the genital tract persists for several days (weeks) after childbirth. Over time, their intensity and color change, they become scanty and light, and then disappear altogether.

Even in the maternity hospital, measures are taken for the young mother to prevent postpartum hemorrhage - the bladder is emptied using a catheter, ice is placed on the stomach, and oxytocin is administered intravenously. The drug is necessary for intense contraction of the walls of the uterus, which closes open blood vessels, preventing excessive blood loss.

To prevent postpartum hemorrhage, you must follow a few simple rules - empty your bladder in a timely manner, feed the baby on demand, lie on your stomach more often immediately after childbirth, and apply ice to your stomach.

Bloody postpartum discharge can persist for up to 6-8 weeks until the uterus is completely restored. For breastfeeding mothers, this process occurs faster. You should consult a doctor if the following signs appear:

  • the discharge has an unpleasant odor;
  • pus appears in the secretion;
  • the volume of lochia has increased for no reason;
  • Vaginal discharge acquires a cheesy consistency.

You need to monitor the nature of postpartum discharge and take timely measures to avoid serious health complications.

After an abortion, including a medical one, bleeding occurs for a week, sometimes for 10 days. After this period, they should stop completely.

Bloody discharge in girls

Before the onset of puberty (9-12 years), there should be no vaginal discharge. During this period, eggs do not mature, menstrual function is not active, and the effect of female hormones on the child’s body is negligible. Therefore, bleeding at this age always indicates problems with the girl’s health. Most often this is due to pathologically premature puberty or infection of the genital tract.

There should be no bleeding during menopause. Their appearance indicates the development of a serious disease, including oncology. By seeking professional help from the specialists of the Diana Clinic, a woman can receive detailed advice from an experienced gynecologist, carry out the necessary diagnostics and the optimal treatment regimen for any gynecological pathology.

Physiological causes of discharge in the middle of the cycle

In order for a specialist to talk about pathological or normal causes of discharge in the middle of the menstrual cycle, the patient must give him full information about the nature of the problem. The days when drops of blood appear from the vagina, their color, consistency, and accompanying signs are important. Below, we describe non-hazardous factors that can cause light spotting on days 14–20 of the cycle.

Taking medications

Disturbances in the functioning of the endocrine system, leading to the appearance of bloody vaginal discharge in the middle of the menstrual cycle, can occur as a result of taking hormonal drugs and oral contraceptives. If a woman takes the pills for a couple of months, then a few drops of bloody vaginal secretion within 1 or 2 days is normal. Soon, after 3 or 4 months, the cycle will stabilize and the symptom will go away on its own. If spotting appears longer than the specified period, you should consult a doctor.

Spotting may also bother a patient who has an intrauterine device or vaginal ring installed.

Ovulation

The physiological reason that blood appears 10–14 days before menstruation is ovulation. Around the 14th day of the cycle, the egg matures completely and the follicle ruptures. The egg begins to move along the fallopian tube to the uterine cavity. During this period, a woman’s chance of becoming pregnant is very high.

Blood before the onset of menstruation without pain and inflammation appears during ovulation due to injury to small blood vessels, does not require treatment and worries for 1-2 days.

Even after fertilization of the egg, when pregnancy has occurred, the fertilized egg must penetrate the wall of the uterus. This occurs 6–12 days after sexual intercourse and may also be accompanied by a small amount of blood from the genitals. An attentive woman will notice 3-4 drops of bloody secretion 5-10 days before the critical days, compare the symptom with the occurrence of swelling of the mammary glands, dizziness, nausea and understand that she has become pregnant.
