Use of triderm for herpes: when treatment is prescribed

Triderm for thrush in men is an “ambulance” for relieving the symptoms of a disease caused by a fungus of the Candida family. Pathology is more common in women, but can also occur in men. Infection occurs during intimate intimacy and is manifested by specific rashes on the male penis, accompanied by itching and characteristic rashes.

Lack of treatment threatens the transition to the chronic stage and the development of complications in internal organs. Therefore, the earlier treatment is started, the more positive the prognosis for the future. Currently, the use of Triderm for thrush in men leads to rapid relief of symptoms of the disease.

  • decreased skin pigmentation, that is, lighter areas of the skin - this is also a result of the use of hormonal ointment,
  • dermatitis around the mouth,
  • atrophy - thinning of the skin in a limited area - this is also a result of the use of hormonal ointment,
  • stretch marks, or stretch marks on the skin - this is also a result of the use of hormonal ointment,

To avoid side effects, remember:

  • Do not apply to the eye area or get into the eyes.
  • Do not smear open wounds to avoid absorption of the drug into the blood and to avoid common side effects from glucocorticoids
  • Do not apply on face for more than 5-7 days in a row
  • Do not apply to skin daily for more than 4 weeks
  • If side effects increase, you should stop the drug and consult a dermatologist.

Causes of the disease

Infection with the Candida fungus does not always occur from a sexual partner. Candidiasis in men can develop against the background of a decrease in the body's defenses due to various chronic diseases. Therefore, for symptoms of candidiasis, treatment with external use of Triderm alone will not be enough.

In this case, it is necessary to find out the cause of the pathology, that is, undergo laboratory and instrumental examination as indicated. Factors contributing to the development of candidiasis in men:

  • prolonged stressful situations;
  • HIV infection;
  • frequent infectious diseases;
  • long-term treatment with antibiotics or drugs that depress the body’s defenses;
  • dietary disturbances due to consumption of foods rich in carbohydrates;
  • disturbances in intestinal function caused by dysbiosis;
  • microtraumas of the mucous membrane of the penis resulting from rubbing or other impact on the organ;
  • a history of sexually transmitted disease accompanied by long-term treatment with antibiotics.

The incubation period of the disease lasts from several days to two months. Most often, the disease manifests itself after two to three weeks. In some cases, low immunity can provoke candidiasis from one’s own fungus, which was part of the man’s own normal microflora.

Possible symptoms

Thrush most often appears on the head of the penis, then spreading to the foreskin and skin of the genital organ, affecting the groin area. The scrotum suffers much less frequently with candidiasis. In the chronic form of the disease, skin lesions can spread to the natural folds of the body. These are the armpits, popliteal cavities, folds between the buttocks. The mucous membrane of the head of the penis is affected by candidiasis and manifests itself in the form of:

  • erosions;
  • films;
  • red bright spots and bubbles.

These skin manifestations of thrush are accompanied by itching and burning in the penis area, as well as swelling and inflammation. Small bubbles appear on the head, which burst, forming areas of damaged skin with elements of weeping. As the disease progresses, a white coating appears on the organ in the form of white films or powder. This indicates deeper damage to the skin by the fungus. In advanced cases of the disease, the process spreads to the urethra and mucous membrane of the bladder, causing irritation when urinating.

Important! The appearance of the first signs of thrush in the form of rashes on the glans penis of a man requires mandatory consultation with a specialist to clarify the diagnosis and carry out active treatment in order to prevent the transition of an acute process to a chronic pathology.

Treatment

At the slightest manifestation of pathology on the skin of the penis, a mandatory consultation with a urologist is necessary. After laboratory confirmation and the patient has symptoms of candidiasis, the specialist prescribes both external treatment with Triderm ointment and antifungal drugs.

The ointment is rubbed into the head of the penis twice a day for a week. The most effective antifungal drugs are Fluconazole, Diflucan, Flucostat, Orungal, which actively suppress fungal infections. After a course of external treatment for thrush in men using Triderm ointment, the doctor may prescribe Nystatin according to indications. In addition, therapy is carried out to strengthen the immune system.

Therapeutic measures should be carried out only after genital hygiene. To do this, you can use traditional medicine for baths, using decoctions or infusions of chamomile, calendula, and clove flowers. These herbal remedies have an antiseptic effect and prepare the skin of the penis for the application of external remedies.

If treatment for thrush is started in the early stages of development, then using Triderm ointment in a course, in combination with taking medications orally, you can get a 100% cure. But if the disease is not treated sufficiently and independently, the disease may progress to the chronic stage.

In this case, it will not be possible to cope with thrush only by using Triderm externally to relieve negative manifestations in the form of itching, burning, rashes on the head of the penis. The fungus can infect and destroy internal organs. The development of prostatitis, candidiasis of the kidneys, urethra, and liver is possible.

Important! Every day, before applying medicinal ointments to the penis, mandatory hygienic treatment of the head of the organ is necessary. That is, removing films, plaque, and pus using disinfectant solutions. Rub Triderm ointment only onto the dry head of the penis.

The issue of treating thrush is still on the agenda among specialists. Candidiasis is a fungal disease, which you need to work hard to get rid of. The modern pharmaceutical industry offers a wide selection of medicines; one of the effective drugs is Triderm ointment. So how does Triderm work for thrush?

If the disease has been detected for the first time and is mild, then treatment usually begins with the use of local remedies. In more complex situations, either their use is unjustified, or they are combined with systemic drugs.

The advantage of the ointment is that, compared to tablets, it is less likely to cause side effects. If this occurs, then the undesirable symptoms are local in nature, but do not affect vital organs. The ointment acts directly at the site of the inflammatory process and quickly relieves the unpleasant clinical symptoms of a fungal infection: swelling, itching, redness, burning, etc.

Triderm should not be used as self-medication for thrush. If alarming symptoms appear, the first thing to do is contact a specialist. A professional doctor will first order a diagnostic examination, and will not make a diagnosis based solely on clinical symptoms. After prescribing the drug, be sure to read the instructions and follow its recommendations during treatment.

Triderm can be bought for about 700-800 rubles. Pricing policies may vary depending on the pharmacy chain. The product is available in two dosage forms: ointment and gel. Unlike gel, the cream is absorbed much faster, so it does not leave marks on underwear. For this reason, this dosage form is applied more often to the site of the inflammatory process.

The components of triderm are the following substances:

  • betamethasone ipropionate;
  • gentamicin;
  • clotrimazole;
  • white petroleum jelly and liquid paraffin as excipients.

Triderm ointment is a soft, homogeneous and translucent consistency of white color, sometimes with a yellowish tint.

The active components of the drug have the following therapeutic effect:

  • betamethasone is a semi-synthetic hormone with anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, vasoconstrictor and antipruritic properties;
  • Clotrimazole is an antifungal component. The substance destroys the protective shell of the fungal cell, which leads to complete death;
  • Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that has a broad spectrum of action and has a bactericidal effect.

Specialists can prescribe ointment in the following cases:

  • fungal infection of the feet;
  • allergic and atopic dermatitis;
  • neurodermatitis of a diffuse or limited nature;
  • lichen;
  • eczema;
  • dermatophytosis;
  • vaginal candidiasis and balanoposthitis.

Triderm ointment should not be used in the following cases:

  • tuberculosis of the skin;
  • chickenpox;
  • rash after vaccination;
  • skin manifestations of syphilis;
  • herpes;
  • skin damage, including open wounds;
  • children under two years old;
  • hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

In the following situations, the product must be used with great caution:

  • the first trimester of pregnancy is the period of organ formation;
  • long-term treatment;
  • damage to a large area of skin;
  • integrity violation;
  • use of an occlusive dressing.

Sometimes local reactions may occur:

  • itching;
  • increased hyperemia;
  • dryness and flaking;
  • depigmentation.

Specifically, betamethasone can cause the following symptoms:

Clotrimazole may cause the following side effects:

  • erythema;
  • tingling sensation;
  • peeling;
  • blisters;
  • hives;
  • irritation.

With regards to gentamicin, sometimes this substance can cause irritation, but as a rule this does not require stopping treatment with triderm. In general, how an individual organism can react to a particular substance is a big mystery, so the individual reaction may differ for each person.

The following points should be considered before treatment:

  • triderm is not used in ophthalmic practice;
  • after long-term use, the drug should be discontinued gradually;
  • simultaneous use with some antibacterial agents may cause allergic reactions;
  • There are no clinical trials regarding the release of active substances into breast milk, so if the use of Triderm is required during lactation, then breastfeeding should be discontinued for the duration of treatment.

The ointment is applied to the surface of the penis and glans twice a day: morning and evening. In principle, morning time can be replaced by lunch time. To achieve a lasting therapeutic effect, the product is applied daily. Before applying the ointment, it is necessary to perform hygienic water procedures.

Before applying the ointment, a woman must take cleansing water procedures and apply the ointment only to clean parts of the body. Triderm is applied to the affected area (external genitalia) in a thin layer.

The important point is that when applying the product, it is necessary to capture a small area of healthy skin. The duration of the treatment process depends on several factors, namely:

  • ointment tolerance;
  • affected area;
  • localization of the inflammatory process.

Complete analogues that contain the same active ingredients are:

  • Kanison plus. This is a combined remedy with four main properties: antiallergic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antimycotic;
  • Akriderm GK. Has the same properties.

There are analogues that are similar to triderm in their therapeutic results, but differ in composition:

  • Travocort. The drug contains two active components: isoconazole nitrate and diflucortolone valerate. The product has a fungicidal and fungistatic effect;
  • Elokom-S. The active ingredients of the product are mometasone furoate and salicylic acid. The drug has local anti-inflammatory, keratolytic, vasoconstrictor and antipruritic properties;
  • Betaderm A. The active ingredients are betamethasone and salicylic acid. It has anti-inflammatory and keratolytic (exfoliation of dead cells from the surface of the skin) effect.

So, triderm for thrush is an effective remedy in the fight against candidiasis of varying severity. The active components of the ointment help to quickly and reliably get rid of the uncomfortable clinical picture of the disease. The combination of antibacterial and antimycotic components simply does not leave any chance of survival for pathogenic microorganisms.

The peculiarity of the drug is that it acts directly on the very cause of the infectious process, which means that the elimination of the disease will not be temporary, but final. Do not use the drug yourself, but entrust the treatment to qualified specialists!

Despite the fact that this drug gives a positive result in treatment, in some cases it is not prescribed by a doctor, as there are contraindications, namely:

  • tuberculosis lesions of the skin;
  • chicken pox;
  • skin lesions due to syphilis;
  • skin rashes after vaccination;
  • violations of the integrity of the skin, including the open wound surface;
  • children up to two years old;
  • individual intolerance to individual components of the product.

In some cases, Triderm in the form of an ointment or cream for the treatment of thrush in men can cause side effects such as itching, increased hyperemia of the penile mucosa, or the appearance of dryness and flaking.

If an undesirable reaction occurs to Triderm against thrush in men, the doctor may prescribe drugs that are analogues of this topical product. Such products containing the glucocorticosteroid hormone include the following ointments:

  • Diprosalic - the quantitative content of the hormone is identical to its content in Triderm, but in its composition it contains salicylic acid and has fewer side effects;
  • Belosalik - differs from the main hormonal agent in the lower content of betamethasone and the absence of gentamicin. The ointment has the same therapeutic effect for thrush, but there will be significantly fewer contraindications for prescribing this remedy;
  • Akriderm GK is a Russian-made drug that contains the same ingredients as Triderm, but it differs only in price. Has an active healing effect on affected skin.

Since Triderm is a strong hormonal drug used in the treatment of thrush in men, sometimes treatment begins with lighter topical drugs. Replacement can be done with the following creams:

  • Dermokas is a product containing the antifungal drug miconazole nitrate, which has a wider spectrum of action on various types of fungi. It is also used for various types of skin dermatoses.

Children are allowed to take this drug only from the age of twelve and only for a short course. Long-term use of the drug in adolescents can cause depression of pituitary-adrenaline function. This is fraught with complications in the form of the appearance of bacteria that are resistant to glucocorticosteroids.

  • Kanizon Plus - in terms of the composition of active components, it is identical to Triderm, used against thrush in men, but has a lower price;
  • Triacutan is a hormonal drug with a wide spectrum of action. Contains the main active ingredients. These are Betamethasone, Gentamicin, Clotrimazole in a dosage slightly lower than in Triderm. In addition, as a filler, the ointment includes petroleum jelly, water, propylene glycol, cetostearyl alcohol;
  • Lokoid is a hormone-containing drug for external use, the active principle of which is hydrocortisone butyrate.

Triderm and all its analogues act directly on the Candida type fungus, destroying its structure and providing a therapeutic effect for candidiasis in men. Ointments and creams for external use containing an active hormonal substance should be used only as prescribed by a doctor.

According to reviews of men using Triderm ointment to treat thrush, the majority received positive results. In case of primary manifestations of the disease, the use of this drug for five to seven days made it possible to stop the external manifestations of candidiasis.

But sometimes, after a certain period of time, the symptoms of thrush appeared again. In this case, according to reviews from men who contacted a specialist, the use of external remedies in the fight against candidiasis was supplemented by taking medications. This comprehensive approach to treatment gave positive results.

Side effects from the use of the drug are rare. Due to the individual characteristics of a man’s body, a pathological reaction is possible to certain active components of the drug. In this case, treatment requires adjustment by replacing Triderm with analogues, but after mandatory consultation with a specialist and laboratory testing.

Early initiation of treatment for candidiasis in men with the use of Triderm ointment and supplemented with oral medications gives a positive prognosis for the future in relation to the future health of a man.
